History
The BN 3.0 represents the third evolution of our all-mountain platform.
Developed from the original OC 1.0 and the powder-focused OC 2.0, the BN 3.0 combines carving precision, all-mountain versatility and reliable powder performance into a single snowboard architecture.
What makes the BN 3.0 different is not just its shape, but its sizing philosophy.
Instead of offering a handful of standard sizes, the BN 3.0 is available in lengths from 143 to 175 cm and widths from 233 to 292 mm. This allows every rider to match board dimensions precisely to body weight, boot size, binding angles and riding style.
The result is a snowboard that can be optimized for everything from tight resort turns and freestyle riding to high-speed carving and deep powder days.
Each board is built by hand in Meiringen, Switzerland, using carefully selected materials and construction methods developed through years of testing and rider feedback.
Rather than building one board for everyone, the BN 3.0 is built around the idea that every rider deserves a board that truly fits.
Size matters
Full spec sheet for all BN 3.0 sizes
Your board’s size (=surface area) is made up of its length and width combined. Your board’s stiffness in combination with your body weight define your board’s rockerline in deeper powder. In addition, your board’s rockerline and surface area define the overall buoyancy.
While keeping the same surface area, you can vary from going longer and narrower (Craig Kelly Style) to shorter and wider industry standard).
Longer and narrower supports bigger turns at higher speeds.
Shorter and wider is more freestyle-oriented, equaling tighter turns.
Width de-mystified
A narrow board provides quicker and more agile edge-to-edge control for ultimate carving. The steeper your binding angles and the smaller your feet, the narrower you can ride your board.
The wider your board, the more float you will achieve in powder. However, it will require more effort in order to transition from edge to edge while carving.
Flex will change the way you ride
Your board’s flex and pop are defined by the sum of all used materials: wood core, epoxy, fibreglass, carbon stringers and flaxseed.
We offer every board in three main flex patterns:
Soft pattern
Progressive riding at its easiest.
Pros:
The pattern of choice for women who ride the full spectrum. It also works well for men who just want to play around and have an easy ride all day long. The edge still grips well for carving and in powder you get this super playful rocker-board feeling.
Cons:
When you carve at higher speeds, the edge hold can reach its limits. The nose might start to flutter and you need extra awareness and ability to catch it and put it back where it belongs.
Medium pattern
The most used, versatile and successful.
Pros:
For advanced to pro riders, this is the most versatile choice to combine powder, carving, speed jibbing, classic kicker lines and halfpipe riding. This is Terje Haakonsen’s pattern of choice for everyday cruising.
Cons:
If you are an advanced beginner, your learning progress will most likely be faster when opting for the soft pattern.
Stiff pattern
Reto’s personal high-performance pattern.
Pros:
This pattern is for extra strong and aggressive riders who have attained the highest fitness level. This is what you reach for when you want to challenge yourself and the rest of the world. It enables you to become a fine-tuned carving machine.
Cons:
If you don’t rule it, it will rule you.
